Crossed Swords

The Saudi Arabian national emblem was adopted in 1950. It consists of two crossed swords beneath a palm tree. The two swords represent the Kingdom of Hejaz and the Sultanate of Najd and their dependencies, which were united under Ibn Saud in 1926. The palm represents prosperity, in the form of the natural assets of the Kingdom.
