United Arab Emirates

The flag of the United Arab Emirates contains the Pan-Arab colours red, green, white, and black. These colours represent four Arab dynasties, or eras, and derive from a verse by 14th century Iraqi poet Safi al-Din al-Hilli: ‘White are our acts, black our battles, green our fields, and red our swords’.
